Your Voice

What makes Microsoft a unique place to work?

"I think that the reason Microsoft is a unique place to work is because there are so many different people that work in different departments that all play a vital role in the production of Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft Applications.  Another thing I have noticed is that there is a wide variety of people from all different cultures and companies.  Each time I work with customers to resolves issues in the labs you get to know what company or section they represent.

For example we have employees here that work for Chinasoft which is a company that uses Microsoft systems all the way from China as well as the USA.  As far as other people from different cultures I have met ones from Russia, India, Japan, Canada, and many more.  Another reason that I find Microsoft a unique place to work is that you don’t find many organizations that have so many lounge areas for people to work in which creates a comfortable mobile environment.  There is wireless transmitters all over the place which allow people to do their work anywhere on campus.  Also I have gotten the chance to meet people from Marketing, Windows Development, Windows Testing, Network Management, and other departments that deal with the overall process of creating and building Windows.  In other organizations you don’t find it easy to see how your job impacts the whole entire process within the company".

I enjoy "the incredible breadth of technology. I’ve been contracting at Microsoft since 1993 and have yet to get a contract where I wasn’t pushed to learn something new (and exciting!)".

- Douglas Schwartz

The environment is really good, people are always helping each other and the most important thing is that you can start building your career ..."

Congratulations to Mike Seay who won a Microsoft athletic jacket for his contribution to last month's "Your Voice" feature.  Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts on what makes Microsoft a unique place to work.
