Policy Reminders
Microsoft works hard to protect the environment.
Shuttle Services
Agency temporaries and vendors may use Microsoft Shuttle Services for convenient movement among Microsoft facilities. Shuttles are arranged through the receptionist at each building. Because parking is not plentiful at most sites, shuttles are often the most convenient option.
Commuting
The Microsoft Commute Program is responsible for all commute-related issues at Microsoft, including parking, carpooling, bicycling, vanpooling, walking, and taking the bus.
The goal of the Commute Program is to provide options for getting to and from the work site, and to increase alternatives to driving alone, by sponsoring numerous programs and services. For more information and details about program offerings, see Microsoft Commute.
Electrical Appliances
Personal items that use electricity, that are not core to performing Microsoft business or not required for ergonomic or medical reasons, are discouraged. Examples include the following: personal refrigerators, hot plates, coffee/tea/water pots, and fans. Space heaters are not allowed.
In addition to the fire risks associated with certain appliances, unnecessary appliances tax the electrical and HVAC capacities of the facilities and consume excess power. Also, certain appliances can introduce harmful harmonics into the electrical system which can damage computer hardware.
Individuals or groups found with unnecessary equipment will be informed of the policy and compliance requested. If the request for compliance is ignored, Facilities may at their discretion remove certain equipment.
