Employee Verification

Reference Policy

Microsoft managers cannot provide work references, verification of employment, verification of income, or other employment-related information for agency temporaries or vendors. Any feedback on performance should be provided to the employer of record. The contingent staff employer is the official source of employment verification and work-related references.

Employment Verification

The employee controls the release of all employment information. Dates of employment and position are verified on request as long as the verifying organization has the Volt employer code (10191) and SSN. This data must be provided before Volt’s vendor will release information. All private employee information is secure.

There are two types of verification available.

  1. Employment Only Verification includes dates of employment, job title, employment status and Volt employee’s address. An Employment Only Verification requires that the verifying organization provide the Volt employee’s SSN and Volt’s Employer Code (10191).
  2. Employment and Wage Verification includes dates of employment, job title, wage information and the Volt employee’s address. An Employment and Wage Verification requires that the verifying organization provide the Volt employee’s SSN, Volt’s Employer Code (10191), and an employee generated salary key (instructions to generate a salary key are below).

There is no charge to the Volt employee for this service. However, Volt’s verifications vendor charges the requestor a fee depending on the verifying organization and depending on their arrangement with The Work Number and the method they use to obtain the verification. Some verifying organizations may have pricing agreements with The Work Number and submit multiple verifications at one time as opposed to one-at-a-time. This charge should not be passed on to the Volt employee. Loan companies, mortgage companies and landlords typically charge a fee that is intended to cover the cost of credit reports and employment verifications. If the verifying organization does not want to use a credit card, they can arrange payment when they call the 800 number listed below.
