More Advice to Newcomers
Your email alias may not be ready to use on the first day of your assignment.
Once your email alias is ready, you can go get your badge from Building 8 (in the parking level down stairs).
Once you have your badge, you can get a bus pass from the receptionist of your building.
Don’t forget to register your car with receptionist on your first day of assignment. When you have your alias, go to http://parking to register your car. When that’s done, you can go to the receptionist of your building to get a parking tag (baby blue for now) and place it on the mirror on the windshield.
Don’t be too anxious about what you will do on the first a couple of days. If no one is supervising (helping) you getting started, try reading the team documents.
For first a few days, the team lead is trying to figure out what kind of person you are and see what you might be best fit to do. So showing your true talent will land you in your favorite tasks. But be aware what you consider a talent may not be as useful for others. And don’t let your negative (ah you might have not realized that one) side show while you are trying to show your talents.
Don’t start to make friends too fast. People are observing you. Let your kindness and wisdom to stream in time.
Observe who are the predators at work, (those whom the more you please, the harder you’ll need to try to please). But those people are usually not very important in the organization because of their flawed practice. Ignore them unless their conduct is professional. If they don’t play nice, complain to your manager.
Being professional might be the best thing you can do for the beginning.
Dress casual with good taste, but don’t try to show off your subculture dress code.
